On Sunday 22nd July, West Cumbria Motorsport Club will be holding an action packed ‘Day of Motorsport’ at the White Heather Hotel, Kirkbride Airfield, near Wigton (Map 85/22553), where food and toilet facilities are available.

On this action packed day we will be running a Clubmans Autosolo, an All Forwards Autotest, and a Production Car Autotest.

For those who haven’t entered these events before;

Autosolos consist of all forwards timed tests on a hard surface. Although there is no passenger allowed in the car while competing, they are not a memory contest, as numbered gates and markers help you find your way around. Your two best times count per test to allow for those ‘little errors’ and although modified cars are allowed, all competing vehicles have to be road legal, and be driven to the event.

Autotests are similar to Autosolos but entries may be accepted from drivers of the age of 16 at the date of the event, or 17 and over without a RTA Licence, but they may only drive a 4 seat saloon type “Touring Car”, of less than 1400 cc. Forced Induction is not permitted and there is no passenger allowed in the car while competing. Again your two best times count per test to allow for those ‘little errors’. On this event entered vehicles need not be licensed for road use as the whole event takes place on a private land.

Production Car Autotests are again similar to Autotests and are limited to production series vehicles that are or have been available from normal retail dealer outlets in the UK. On these events entries may be accepted from drivers of 14 and over at the date of the event, or 17 and over without a RTA Licence, but the accompanying passenger, which is mandatory requirement in all cases, must hold a full RTA license and be a person experienced in Autotesting AND they may only drive a 4 seat series production saloon type car. Open or sports cars can only compete with their hoods erected or a hard top fitted. If the driver holds a valid, non-provisional RTA Licence the passenger must be 14 years or over. On this event entered vehicles need not be licensed for road use as the whole event takes place on a private land.

We plan to run all three types of event concurrently to make the best use of the great facilities. Competitors are divided into groups, whilst one group competes, another marshals and the third takes a well earned rest. We are planning to have 3 tests on the day with at least 3 runs at each test with your best two times to count on each test.

With first runs starting at 10.30am, a break for lunch at around 12.30 and results and prizes awarded by 16.00 we are all set for an action packed day.

Supplementary regulations are above. Hopefully you will come and join us!

Entrance to the venue will be arrowed from the A596 near Wigton.
